Background Ventilation

Vent and draught graphicBackground ventilation is simply ventilation which operates in a passive manner, ie. with no mechanical assistance. Background ventilation can be as simple as opening a window or having a simple hole in the wall, as is often seen in Irish dwellings.

Comfort Solutions Ireland offers a range of ventilation options but we only provide high quality products which are fit for purpose and that won't cause excessive occupant disturbance or discomfort in cold or windy conditions. We do not supply "Hit & Miss" type ventilation products which are often seen in Irish homes.

For more ventilation options and products, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Background Wall Vents

Helios ZLE air supplyComfort Solutions Retrofit offer a range of high-quality background wall vents, which provide ventilation to habitable rooms in dwellings. Our specially designed Helios background wall vents are cost-effective but are much more advanced than the typical wall vents that were installed in Irish homes for many years.

All vents contain a dust and insect filter and a condensation shield is built into the front cover. The diffuser gently spreads the incoming air in all directions where the Coanda effect helps to distribute the air around the room without causing a draught. The 25mm sponge filter also acts as a sound damper and draught reducer. Filters are re-usable, washable and very simple to change. There are also a wide range of storm and allergy filter accessories available.

Permanent wall vent - fuel burning applianceFor any room with a heat producing appliance, we must provide a permanently open, "combustion" wall vent, as outlined in Building Regulations Parts J and F. Comfort Solutions Ireland can provide exactly this, through a ducted vent through an external wall. Each vent also contains a baffle to reduce draughts.

Window Trickle Vents

Trickle vents insideFor certain window types, Comfort Solutions Retrofit may be able to retrofit "trickle vents" to your windows. These are discreet, strip vents, in a colour matching your windows, usually fitted to the top of a sash frame. However, they are not our recommended method of ventilation as they are greatly affected by curtains and blinds and in many cases, offer only limited airflow. They can offer an option in situations where it's difficult to install a wall vent and where there are suitable windows, e.g. in a sun room.

Our advanced range of Helios trickle vents offer humidity-sensitive control over the airflow. This is possible through advanced Helios technology and the vents do NOT require power. Contact us to learn more or to place an order.
